I don't spray for spiders as my hives are 5 meters from my deck where I sit at midday with a whiskey quietly observing sparrows.
Being vegetarian I am short of fat but plenty of mealworms in the flour these days.... so will feed that.
I also notice pukekos climbing into my apple trees and stealing them...... Birds are really changing habits these days

There is nothing new about pukeko stealing apples. As for the sparrows taking bees my guess is they have learned to identify drones and are eating these. I have never seen sparrows do it but I have seen both mynahs and blackbirds learn this trick several times over the years. Adult sparrows don't eat many insects but their babies are raised on them.
