I had a very poor take on my last graft. There are several contributing factors but I would value comment on varroa treatment.
I was using a Cloake board. The hive had a very high varroa count (29/310) so Bayvarol was put in at the same time as setting up for the graft.
Is there evidence, or weight of opinion that the treatment will have caused such a poor take?

The almost 10% mite count would have had more effect than the bayvarol.

However what is more likely to have an effect than either of those is the time, season, and flow.

Do you use those large black cell cups? Can’t remember the brand, but there was a big problem with the product in early spring becuse acceptance was so low and they got recalled. Maybe hou have the bad batch...
