Another honey labelling question

Yes! Still refining my labels…

Anyways, from what I can find on the MPI food labelling guides, honey is good for two years from when it was packaged… you know this… they also state “if it needs a best before at all”… and then I find this: (photo) with a west coast rata honey’s best before of Sept 25.

What’s up with this?

Best before is optional in food with a shelf life of 6 months or longer. Beekeepers are used to claiming extremely long best before days. specially the ones that don’t sell much honey.... MPI won’t do anything about it as is considered a minor issue.
