Research Apiarist – Pollination and Apicultural projects
Ruakura Research Centre (Hamilton)
The Bee Biology research team are looking for someone to provide support to the team with beekeeping on pollination and apicultural research projects over the coming season.
The hours are casual as and when required, and will vary significantly depending on seasonal timings and will include working in the field and laboratory. We have some flexibility in terms of when these hours can be worked depending on your personal situation.
The main duties will include:
· To assist with beekeeping and fieldwork including the processing of field samples.
You will need:
· Experience with beekeeping
· A high level of physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in hot weather
· To meet Plant and Food work protocols under the Co-Vid Traffic light system.
· An organised and methodical approach to tasks
· Proven interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work positively and constructively across teams.
· The position may require occasional after-hours and weekend work.
· A requirement to work safely and willingly with stinging insects.
· Legally able to work in New Zealand
A generous hourly rate, 8% holiday pay and some flexibility in when the hours are worked is available.
