"pro polis" - Greek for "in front of the city", describing how bees use the sticky substance...

Les Gera (Hamilton, I think) used to make a nice propolis collecting device. It had an outer plastic rim, then maybe 4 or 5 thin plastic inserts, each with a series of say 25mm holes, aligning through the board. The bees are always ready to proplise joins like that, and it made for 'clean' propolis. Easy to use - just pop it in a freezer, then give the inserts a twist and the propolis comes off with little work.

So the question is - does anyone have one hanging about that I might purchase from them?

Located Tauranga.

Les had hives on my Cambridge property that has 75ha mature Kanuka and also at my Rotokauri Lake block, pussy willow and purple flower weed in cattle pasture (forget the name just now). He had a wonderful pollen gathering system that amazed me with quantities when I assisted him.
I never did see his propolis system. He certainly was inventive. I think I wound up with his number when I registered several years after he passed away.
