Heavy rains in late January seem to have put an end to this year's Honey flow In Hawke's Bay. It might come back on but experience suggests it probably won't. Still it has been a fairly good season for most people.

Good flow down here in the valley, some beeks have 100kg/ hive mainly Kamahi with some Rata. White Rata vine has been flowering for over a month with good crops

This year's harvest so far has been very surprising.
My two hives generally don't produce a lot and always the same dark, bush honey.
This year one hive has produced more than the previous 4 years put together and very different honey.

The jars in the picture show the usual dark honey on the left, with Dec 23 in the middle several shades lighter, and Feb 24 on the right with very little colour at all. And they're still busy.:)

We did see a lot of Kamahi in the area this year.
