Harvesting the honey from the beehives they have tended has kept pupils at a rural South Canterbury school as busy as the bees they have looked after.
Beaconsfield School Year 8 pupils have harvested 143 cases of 200 gram rectangular honey containers from the 120,000 bees resident in two hives on the school’s grounds.
They are being sold at $20 each to fundraise for the upkeep of the bees and the other agricultural projects the school has including, sheep, calves and growing potatoes.
