Hi all, I believe I have at least two hives on my land that are underground/inside large piles of rocks/boulders. Looking for any insight on how to get them out (possibly into a hive I can keep) before the rocks are moved, else they will likely be destroyed. Or, hoping to find recommended contact in the Wairarapa who might be able to help.

Honeybees are not well known for nesting underground, generally preferring something more like 'a container' if possible.

You may well have a thriving colony of wasps, might be my initial guess. And if you can get close enough to take a few good photos, and they really were wasps, you may already know that by the aggression you might have encountered!
