I am a hobbyists beekeeper in Canterbury. I know commercial beekeepers in the South Island who know you and they told me that you are a good commercial beekeeper. (They know you from the time you kept bees in Canterbury). This is what we need on the AFB board. We need commercial beekeepers who can lead by example. We need board member that are there for the good of the industry and not because of personal gratification or because they desire a position of power. Perhaps once you are in the board you change your perception about what is going on. It would be unfair to reject your application just because you think that the Agency is not doing a good job. Afb used to spread uncontrolled 10 years ago. We can see the positive difference that the actions of the Agency has made in afb control working closely with beekeepers for the las 8 years or so. I feel sorry for the Agency that was for the last 12 months has been subject of social media abuse from an AFB spreader commercial beekeeper who represents the worst of our beekeeping industry. Any beekeeping group that has proposed supporting this one beekeeper has lost my support and the support of all compliant beekeepers at least in Canterbury. I hope this afb spreader becomes accountable for his actions. I think you have more Mana as Gino than as a member of that beekeeping group.
