Relocating urban hive

A hive - Warre - situated on a friend’s deck in Onehunga needs to be moved while the block of appartments is repainted. My preference is to bring it to my place about 1 km away (see pic - cite in front of shed) but I wonder if that’s too close? I have a less convenient cite about 3.5 k away. Advice?

1km is fine.
turn the hive so it faces a different direction helps, also shifting it just before it rains helps. basically your forcing them to reorient their location and call the new location home.

Since you are waiting for rain it wont come! Place some brush or branches across the entrance and that will make them ponder location as they scramble over it

Thx for that. Actually I moved it that night (of the post) and it started raining by midnight. Also they are opposite a 2.5 m hedge a couple of m in front of the hive which would be new. So all appears well.
