Around here tree dahlias almost always get either blown over or frosted just before the flower but once every 20 years they do look nice.
they always look good around nelson.
this yr the ones yesbut gave me have not snapped off completely despite the northerly blow, just bent and hanging down.

I have them in flower at present. Easy to grow here from cuttings or tubers - which are like all dahlia tubers, but can be up to 25 cms long. Some get blown over, but most keep standing because of the big tuber feet.
