Trying to keep an updated list. I started it out of curiosity to see where membership lies within this forum of Active participants.

In order of Commercial Members (as in my case, including Semi)
APINZ - 5 semi (2 semi) or commercial
NO GROUP - 5 Commercial
NZBKIN- 4 Commercial
SNIBK - 2 (1 semi) Commercial

Within Participants within forum - there are as many in NO group compared to APINZ
Is this indicative of the industry or just that this FORUM is a place for the NO Group individuals to join a group and have a say/share

I am a member of ApiNZ if only to ensure its responsibilities relating to the NPMP are upheld. Small price to pay - and I get a magazine!

I would venture to say that every one of NZ Beekeeping Inc's members have 50 hives or more - their membership form won't let you use any smaller number.
I have been a member of NZBI, and I am strictly a hobbyist, with way less than 50 hives. The membership form is a bit limited in that respect.

I have always been a hobbyist member of the NBA first and now of ApiNZ.
If commercial beekeepers don’t want Manuka health or Comvita to be at the board representing them. Why don’t you ask whoever you want to represent you to join ApiNZ; and with your votes he/she could replace them in the next board elections?
I you want change try to create change from within the organisation.

Could not have said it better, APINZ is not perfect and by people getting involved, it could get very close.
